Car history: |
Much has been learned about this car, but much remains a mystery. The car was purchased from an estate sale from the daughter of the owner living in North Carolina. The car spent some of it's early life in Florence, South Carolina which was learned from repaired panels in the rear of the car. The car was last inspected in North Carolina in 1986. This car had been sitting since that time in an unrestored state. The car did suffer a rear end collision and a new rear clip was put on the car early in it's life. The repair was not done well but all of that will be fixed during my restoration. The odometer states 49,005 miles which is what the general condition of the car would indicate is correct. The TH400 transmission, engine pad, and frame all contain the correct VIN shown on the pillar. It is a highly optioned car. I purchased this car in August 2009 and have been working on a complete restoration on the car ever since. The rolling chassis is completed and now the body is being tended to with a new front clip, repaired damaged rear clip and will be completed for it's 40th birthday on or before April 27, 2011. I have posted updates of the progess in the Corvette Forum if you would like to follow along the complete restoration of this car. Look for AllC34Me in the Corvette Forum and locate the 1971 Brands Hatch Green Barn Find thread. David Howard May 14, 2010 |
